  3. What a wonderful, wonderful blog - and with the pictures it is priceless! I am taking my parents to Japan in April - can't wait. And I have already traveled to Japan twice in the last two years - just can't get enough of it, especially Tokyo. The balance between the text and pictures in your blog is great. Thank you! One question - was the kobe beef in Gyuan at Ginza better, worse or about the same as Misono in Shinjuku? Misono was much more expensive - is it worth it, or Ginza's Gyuan will do it? Ilia

  4. Thanks Ilia for your positive comments. It took me months to edit this blog and I am so glad to have received some positive comments like this.

We had a kobe beef burger at Gyuan but had the proper Wagyu beef at Misono. I personally would say that the price of the Japanese Wagyu beef steak is worth every penny and worth a try without doubt. Plus the view from Misono is beautiful especially at night although the price is more expensive at night. There is proper Wagyu steak at Gyuan at night too which is also quite expensive.

  5. Leeanne, thank you for the quick response, I appreciate it. I read many blogs about Japan, but few of them have "chemistry", emotional component and also enough information to make them stand out. Yours somehow made me feel a "participant" in your trip also touched me in many ways - the personal observations, likes, dislikes, humor, family feeling, excitement from discoveries and so forth. And thanks for the recommendations again. Will go for Misono!

  6. You're welcome Ilia. I'm so glad my blog has entertained you and be of use to you. Feel free to ask me any questions. When you Visit Misono, remember to have the Japanese Wagyu set instead of the other. That's the best. Please share your experience after your visit.

I myself also enjoy watching others travel blogs. Thank you very much for your compliments. From now on, I will write a travel report for each of my trip. I plan to visit taipei in next month. You can come back for it in a few months time if you like or subscribe by email.

Have a wonderful trip with your parents.

  7. Thank you! I am headed to Tokyo for 2 weeks on February 6. I have rented a small (OK, tiny!) apartment so I will be able to cook some things for myself. Can't wait to eat myself silly for a fortnight, and you have given me some good ideas in addition to the research I've already done! Your blog made me incredibly hungry!

  9. THANK YOU!!!! Thank you for sharing your experiences. It was so much fun to read! We are going in April and I wrote down all the restaurants you recommended... how did you come up with your list? How did you know which were the must trys? I will be travelling with 3 small children, any tips for family friendly restaurants?

  10. I have done extensive research beforehand by reading many forums and websites, e.g.tripadvisor. And this one http://www.sunnypages.jp/ is my favorate. My pricipal was to find one for each type of restaurant ( sushi, ramen, tonkasu, eel, Kobe steak,Tempura etc.) Having said that, it's not easy to find bad food in Japan. So don't worry, if you don't want to look for a restaurant, just go in any one you like.

The restaurants I find that are not family friendly are the sushi bars as they are so tiny that you wont' be able to move sometimes such as the ones in the fish market.
